Hand in hand with ProColombia, some of the most recognized swimwear brands in Colombia showed their proposals on the initial catwalk of the Paraiso Miami Beach event, dedicated to beach fashion.
The firms Ancora, Bahama Mama, Mar de Lua, Mola Mola, Naranja Furcado, Palmacea, PQ Swim, and Smeralda presented their proposals for the SS21 / 22 season. “Colombia has become one of the most fertile and dynamic suppliers of swimwear and beachwear on a global scale. That is why we partnered with Paraiso Miami Beach, to present the most innovative Colombian brands to buyers and the national press through this initiative and multifaceted fashion experience, Destination: Colombia ”, said the president of ProColombia, Flavia Santoro.
The brand has been characterized by capturing a particular lifestyle for men, women and children. It has managed to have a presence in 37 countries in recent years.
In the proposal she presented on the catwalk, “California Dream”, pastel and white swimsuits stand out, with patterned fabrics in which there are tiny divers.
Founded on the Colombian Caribbean coast by Nicole Acosta and Rocío Borré, the firm stands out for its fresh and elegant style under a concept of sustainability. Recycled polyester is used to make the swimsuits and the garments are made from natural fibers such as cotton and linen. In addition, they turn to ecological digital printing for stamps. It is a chemical-free process that reduces the use of water and seeks to be more environmentally friendly.
On this occasion, Bahama Mama was inspired by the place where everything was born: The Caribbean.
Born in 2011, Mola Mola is a beachwear brand inspired by the spirit and energy of the Caribbean. As they point out from the firm, the comfort in the use of the garments is one of their priorities. "Our comfortable silhouettes and versatile prints, which allow for mix-n-match, are specifically designed to be easy for kids and adults to match," says designer Adriana Dangond.
The prints and color combinations are made especially for the collections and the lycra used for the swimwear is obtained from recycled PET plastic bottles. The medium and long-term goal is to become a 100 percent sustainable brand
Inspired by travel, the brand presented a 2022 collection highlighting white swimsuits that convey purity and calm through design. Also, pastel tones and floral prints.
Launched in 2018, this minimalist style brand proposes two collections for 2022: Disco Doll and Gioia D 'Amore - where metallic tones coexist with a touch of pure color.
Created in 2016 under the idea of the existence of an alternative dimension, the consumer encounters an abstract idea of ambiguity. Its exclusive materials are made from 81 percent recycled fishing nets and bottles recovered from the sea. Smeralda also presents reversible swimsuits as a way to reduce the environmental impact and waste of clothing.
Mar de Lua
The brand is inspired by women and their soul. The collection entitled Boho Blossom is a bohemian chic proposal that transmits the beauty of nature and its essence in each of the designs. The swimsuits are made from sustainable, quick-drying materials.
The firm with proposals for women and men was born in 2021, in its designs you can see a variety of colors and prints that reflect the multiplicity of different cultures of Colombia, its landscapes, flora and fauna. On this occasion, “Semilla” presented a collection with blurred textures, embroidery and proposals in which flowers and pearls stand out.
The prints are made in a friendly way with the environment, their processes do not consume water and inks are used without chemicals. In addition, they work with materials obtained from the recycling of PET bottles to avoid pollution of the oceans.
Palmacea has a presence in 25 countries and has an e-commerce platform with international arrival. Their products can be found in stores such as Galeries LaFayette, BHV Lebanon, Anthropologie, Shopbop and Liverpool, among others.
