From July 27 to 29, more than 260 international buyers invited by Procolombia will meet with national companies to do business in the framework of the events organized by Inexmoda. Ecuador, the United States, Costa Rica, Peru and Mexico lead the largest groups of foreign companies.

Among the large buyers are, for example, Tory Burch and Catherine Trifiletti, from the United States, who will be present at this edition of Colombiatex + Colombiamoda 2021.

These companies, which will be looking for a Colombian offer of sports, corporate and hotel uniforms, as well as jeans and leather goods, are part of the more than 260 firms from 24 countries that will have business meetings with Colombian companies, virtually, face-to-face or mixed (both modalities).

Of the total number of foreign companies, 187 have expressed their interest in participating in person.

Flavia Santoro, president of Procolombia, stated that “fashion is one of the priority sectors in the safe economic reactivation plan in exports, which we execute from ProColombia, under the leadership of the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Tourism. This sector has had a good start in export matters, thanks to its quality, designs, flexible delivery volumes, sustainability, and we hope that these great activities of our great ally, Inexmoda, can further enhance these international sales ”.

Ecuador, the United States and Costa Rica lead the largest groups of buyers, invited by Procolombia, where the participation of destinations such as the Netherlands Antilles, Switzerland and India also stands out.

In this edition there will be an outstanding participation of markets such as the Caribbean; specifically, from Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic, 32 buyers are confirmed. From that region there will be a presence of VIP buyers, such as Novus, which has more than 24 stores around Puerto de Rico and is looking for a complete package of swimwear for men, women, backpacks and sportswear.

Also Plaza Lama, from the Dominican Republic, which has 15 hypermarkets and comes to see the offer of casual clothing, bathing suits, pajamas and footwear for the family.

Fashion exports grew

It is worth noting that Colombian fashion exports grew 42.1 percent to reach 344.6 million dollars, between January and May 2021.

The main buyers were the United States (130.1 million dollars), Ecuador (41.5 million dollars) and Mexico (32.1 million dollars), according to figures from Dane with analysis by Procolombia.

While the Colombian garments most in demand abroad were fabrics and fabrics, girdles and control clothing, raw and prepared leathers, jeans and women's underwear.

Antioquia, Bogotá, Valle del Cauca, Atlántico, Cundinamarca and Santander led fashion exports in the first five months of the year.

The return of Colombian fashion to the face-to-face catwalks will be next Monday, July 26 at 7:00 p.m. m. in Plaza Mayor, Medellín, at the inaugural Colombiatex + Colombiamoda 2021 fashion show, by designer Diego Guarnizo and the Avon Foundation for Women. The two unite, once again, to spread the message of no to violence against women.

In this catwalk of Latin American character, which receives the name of Mira de Nuevo, other guests will participate, such as Annaiss Yucra, from Peru; Cindy Castro and Paulina Anda, from Ecuador, and the Colombians Silvia Tcherassi, Johanna Ortiz and Beatriz Camacho, who will donate one of their creations to the Foundation to be auctioned once the parade is over.
