Gran Canaria Swim Week by Moda Cálida will be held from October 21 to 24 at the Expomeloneras venue in Maspalomas (Gran Canaria), and we have all the details of this new edition.
This new call will be a special edition framed in the celebration of its 25th Anniversary, whose main commitment continues to be to promote the catwalk internationally and strengthen its position as a key event of its kind within the European catwalk circuit. Along with this, the challenge is also to promote the professionalization of the catwalk, incorporating names of recognized prestige from Canarian, national and international design into its program.
In this edition, Gran Canaria Swim Week by Moda Cálida will bring together about 40 designers and brands, of which 11 are from the Canary Islands (from Gran Canaria and other islands in the archipelago), 10 from the peninsula, and 6 from abroad. The full calendar of participants for this 2021 edition will be announced shortly, among which the incorporation, among others, of renowned designers such as Aurelia Gil, Palmas, Guillermina Baeza, Ágatha Ruiz de la Prada or Melisa Odabash, among others, is confirmed. others.
Nuria de Miguel, director of the catwalk, commented in the presentation of the next edition that: “The selection of brands invited in this edition has been carried out following criteria of quality, prestige and projection. In total, more than a dozen designers have been selected by the Fashion Committee, which has significantly increased the level of participation, reaching almost 40 participating brands ”.
Kerem Bürsin, the most international face of GCSW by MC
Precisely to carry the GCSWM brand around the world and reinforce the international image of Gran Canaria as a tourist destination, the catwalk will feature in this edition the presence as an ambassador of the successful Turkish actor Kerem Bürsin, star of the Love is in the Air series, which will contribute to promoting the Island and the design of swimwear.
The Councilor of the Cabildo de Gran Canaria, Minerva Alonso, highlighted in the framework of the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Madrid, that Kerem Bürsin "represents an exceptional opportunity for the objective of internationalization of both the catwalk, as well as the talent of the designers who go to parade in the next edition of the catwalk, and of course the tourist potential of Gran Canaria ”.
Let’s Swim Together charity parade
For the first time, coinciding with International Breast Cancer Day, the Let's Swim Together parade will be held, which aims to show collections adapted to the consequences that this disease causes on women's bodies, as well as to launch a message of hope and positivity.
In addition, the parade will have a charitable nature with the aim of supporting this cause, the commitment to research and its prevention, and all proceeds from ticket sales will be allocated 50% to the Spanish Association against Cancer, and the Canary Association against Breast and Gynecological Cancer.
Women who have already experienced this disease will parade on the catwalk. They will be in charge of showing a selection of designs from different brands specially created for those who have undergone interventions related to breast cancer, such as mastectomy.
